At the heart of the Renaissance town of Amboise and its charming cobbled streets lies the Château Royal d'Amboise. Charles VIII was the real architect when he chose to transform this medieval residence into a Gothic château. François I, the great Renaissance king, spent much of his childhood here under the protection of his uncle Louis XII and his wife Anne of Brittany.
The famous Italian genius and faithful friend of Francis I, Leonardo da Vinci, is buried in the château's chapel, a stone's throw from his final resting place at Le Clos-Lucé. From its terraces, the Château Royal d'Amboise offers exceptional views over the Loire and the town.
!! The Saint Hubert chapel, where Leonardo da Vinci's tomb is located, is currently undergoing renovation work, so it is not possible to visit the interior.

The Domaine de Chaumont-sur-Loire is home to both the Château de Chaumont-sur-Loire and the Garden Festival. The Château de Chaumont-sur-Loire is full of surprises, being both a historic monument and a centre for art and nature. During your visit to the château, you'll find beautifully furnished rooms and numerous works of art scattered here and there. The beauty of the château can also be found on the terraces overlooking the Loire, offering a magnificent view.
The International Garden Festival is undoubtedly the must-see event of the summer! Every year since 1992, the Festival has brought together landscape gardeners from all over the world. They all work on recreating the gardens around a particular theme. In 2023, the theme in the spotlight will be the "Resilient Garden", once again offering an astonishing spectacle divided into numerous gardens, each with a different version. To be discovered from 25 April to 5 November 2023.
